Our story

One tree, many useful things

Neem has been part of everyday Indian life for centuries. Its wood is hard, close-grained and naturally smooth, and its oil has long been used at home. A neem comb carries none of the static of a plastic comb, glides through hair without snagging, and is kind to the planet when it is finally done — it returns to the earth.

How it's made

Each comb starts as a piece of seasoned neem wood. It is cut to shape, then carved and sanded by hand until the teeth are smooth and the edges rounded, so it moves through hair gently. No heat, no moulds, no plastic.

How to use it

Use it daily to smooth and untangle. Neem wood carries no static, so hair falls flat and stays put; a few slow strokes is all it takes.

Good to know

What does 'plastic-free' mean here?

The comb is carved from solid neem wood and shipped in a paper and cotton wrap. No plastic in the comb and none in the packaging — the only thing that ever touches your hair is wood.

Does it suit all hair?

Yes — the wide-tooth combs are gentle for long, thick or curly hair, while the fine-tooth and tail combs are made for neat lines and partings. Choose the tooth spacing that suits how you like to comb.

How should I clean it?

Wipe with a dry cloth and remove loose hair between the teeth. Neem is naturally resistant to the little things that build up on a comb, so it needs little more than a wipe.

Will the wood crack or warp?

Neem is a dense, stable wood. Keep the comb dry and out of prolonged direct sun and it will keep its shape for years. A little natural oil now and then keeps it looking its best.

Is every comb the same?

Each comb is carved and finished by hand, so no two are identical. Slight variations in grain and tone are the mark of a real hand-carved object, not a flaw.

Why neem wood?

Neem wood is hard, close-grained and naturally smooth, and it carries none of the static a plastic comb builds up. It glides through hair without snagging, and when a comb is finally done it is compostable — there is nothing to throw away that will not return to the earth.
